Hi! My name is Madelyn Schloss and I am a sophomore at the University of Maryland in the Media, Self, and Society Scholars Program. I am from Baltimore, Maryland and for as long as I can remember, UMD has been my absolute dream school. Getting into Maryland was a dream come true, then when I realized I had been admitted to the Scholars Program, I was over the moon!

When joining the Scholars program here at University of Maryland, I did not realize how much a help it would be to not only my future career, but my character as a person. Ever since I was a baby, I have been involving in acting and theater. Growing up, I was in many musicals at my local dinner theater as well as many commercials through my manager and agent in New York City. I have always loved this business. As I got older, I realized I wanted to focus my career on a combination of this love for acting and theater with my love for communication, media, and public speaking. When I came across the Media, Self, and Society Scholars Program, I felt like it was an absolutely perfect fit for me. Within this program, I was able to meet a group of students who have similar interests as me and are dedicated to their schoolwork. This program also opens so many doors for us as students as we are exposed to many professionals in the media and journalism world. It was the perfect program to be involved in when adjusting to the college life as a freshman since we were able to meet and live with students who were similar to us and be comfortable in a small group within such a large community. I am so grateful to have been welcomed into such a great program here at the University of Maryland and I am beyond excited to see where this program can take me in my future.
